How might the principles of NVC positively impact communication?
Nonviolent communication (NVC), a concept and practice founded and developed by Dr. Marshall Rosenberg, is based on the principles of nonviolence—the natural state of compassion. “NVC begins by assuming that we are all compassionate by nature and that violent strategies—whether verbal or physical—are learned behaviors taught and supported by the prevailing culture. NVC also assumes that we all share the same, basic human needs, and that each of our actions are a strategy to meet one or more of these needs. People who practice NVC have found greater authenticity in their communication, increased understanding, deepening connection and conflict resolution.” (http://www.cnvc.org/)http://www.cnvc.org/learn/nvc-foundations
How might the 3 R’s positively impact communication?
As you may know, early childhood specialist Magda Gerber developed the 3 R’s, which promotes the idea that relationships are built over time through “respectful, reciprocal, and responsive” interactions. Part of practicing the 3 R’s is to acknowledge the validity of diverse perspectives and to provide an equal voice for those perspectives. One must also be willing to examine his or her own personal, family, and cultural views and beliefs, and how they affect interactions with others. Please check the upload file
