Maldives and Iran

In a 5-7 page paper, address the following questions: What is some of the history behind the establishment of each of your two states (iran and maldives)? How well does each fit the definition of a state? That is, what are some current challenges to their sovereignty and/or legitimacy? Are they strong, weak, failing? Which model best describes the current regime type in each of your two cases? What role does identity politics play in each of your two states? Are nationalism, ethnicity, race, class, sex/gender/orientation, or religion salient factors in the political process? All papers are to be typed, double-spaced, in a standard font and size (i.e.: Times New Roman 12, Arial 11) with page numbers, normal margins, and no extra spacing between paragraphs. Proofread your papers to check for typos, incomplete sentences, improper phrasing and spacing, etc.
