So far in this course, we have explored diversity through the lenses of history, the humanities, and the natural and applied sciences. In this module, you will wrap up your draft of Final Project Part One with Milestone Four, and the social sciences lens is the last piece of the puzzle. Look back over the topics you chose to discuss in previous discussions, select one, and reexamine it now through the social sciences. In your initial post, address the following:

The Social Sciences
As people are social beings, social science is the study of society and the relationships between people.
Subjects included in this lens are psychology, sociology, anthropology, political science, economics, and
geography. This study of human behavior and interaction can sometimes overlap with the humanities
lens, which also studies different cultures. Studying society, culture, and human relationships will lead us
to an understanding of how people live and how to improve our lives. Social scientists use a variety of
methods to arrive at conclusions within this lens, such as interviews, participant-observation, and
primary and secondary sources. The social sciences can also intersect with the other lenses. For
instance, like for the history lens, social scientists may look at the past to gain an understanding of the
social relationships that took place. How do we interact? How do we work together? Asking questions
similar to these has given us the opportunity to evaluate causes and effects related to people in our
society. Consider how the social science lens helps us interact with the world around us and uses
cultural artifacts to make changes in our lives to promote better living or promote interactions we

My topic is on woman politics. I stressed the fact that women need to be recognized in the political setting because that will help greatly in any women rights that are being fraught. Women know best about what women need or want and it is more convincing to have a female leader than a male. it is very difficult for a women to be in office because they are known to be incapable.
in the video, “An animated introduction to social science”, referred to social science as seeking nature or people and society. Social means society and human beings and science as in the facts, systematic study of things or true nature (Grant, et al., 2011). My understanding on the social science lens in regards to women politics is the topic on abortion. I do not understand where male politics have any say in what women want to do to their bodies. A lot of women get abortions because they are not ready for a family. It is really sad that plan parenthood were getting bash on abortions and contraceptives but then now it is possible going to be against the law. pregnancy is a beautiful thing but I do not see how mother and fathers harm their babies. Maybe letting females decide what they want to do is better than giving birth and doing something else when the child is born.
I follow the last paragraph by saying that women need to stand together and set forth what is right. Females should have all the say on their body and let know one dictate what someone will do to it. I feel like women are unable to make choice. There is this imagine that women stay home and do cleaning, cooking, caring for children etc. Now in this generation women and hard working women that multitask.

HI Classmates and Professor!
The previous topic that I am going to discuss here is the Abortion Ban laws in Alabama. To give you a refresher I had found the actual meaning behind these bans was “The legislation bans abortions at every stage of pregnancy and criminalizes the procedure for doctors, who could be charged with felonies and face up to 99 years in prison. It includes an exception for cases when the mother’s life is at serious risk, but not for cases of rape or incest” (Williams and Blinder, 2019). One thing that I have thought of since I posted about this topic in module three is “Why does someone have to suffer severe trauma to have a choice over their bodily autonomy?” Just some food for thought.
With the lens of the social sciences, especially with a focus on political science, we can see a lot of movement with and against the abortion bans. My understanding has not been affected by the social sciences in understanding it less, but rather understanding the true divide that this has caused, and the divide it can potentially cause. I found that in 2003 there was a similar fight going on, where a US attorney argued that the Partial-Birth Abortion Ban Acts in Nebraska and California were unconstitutional under roe v wade, but the political scientists argued that the court might overturn this despite that fact. The new justice was the wildcard, who in the past had shown firm support for the pro-life side of the argument (Hill & Ling, 2006). The justice being focused on here is Samuel Alito, who could and will impact the vote when the Alabama abortion bans get pulled into the supreme court.
The lens that I previously used was historical, the social sciences support the lens I had before because with justice like Samuel Alito, is very real that we could take a step backward in time – to when abortion was not legalized. I wish I could say with confidence that I don’t think this will get to the supreme court based on recent news articles stating that “The U.S. Supreme Court said Friday that it will not take up Alabama’s appeal involving the state’s attempt to ban an abortion procedure commonly used in the second trimester of pregnancy.” (Williams, 2019) but we can never be too sure.
