These films portray very different outbreaks. In your essay, compare and contrast the following:
- How did/do cultural beliefs influence peoples response to the epidemic (please be specific here)?
- In both cases misinformation confused the public. How did (does) this play out in the behavior of people? And how did this amplify the situation?
- What cultural factors influenced how people perceived the illness? How did culture influence peoples view of the causes of the illness (where it came from, how was it spread)? And how did culture influence their view of the cures or treatments of the illness?
- What were the similarities and differences between these cases in how people responded to the illness?
