There’s two youtube videos that need to be watched and one page has to be written for each one. It should be a short summary with positive and negative critiques. DR. MACK-SHELTON’S “PICKY” WRITING RULES
(– that’s right!!!)
“MY RULES”
#1= do not use contractions (do not VS. don’t; it is VS. it’s)
#2= each paragraph should have 3-5 sentences; do not write
paragraphs that take up one full page or even a half of a
page== too-o-o long
#3= write clear, grammatical sentences; do not write
“super-r-r-long” sentences that take up three or more lines
#4= do NOT skip extra spaces between a paragraph or subtitles: doublespace
the entire paper throughout; to turn this “line spacing option”–
CHECK the box that says “do not add space between paragraphs of the same
style”
#5= ONLY use 12 font COURIER OR COURIER NEW; This is 12font
Courier. This is 12font Courier New.[Cover pages= be creative]
#6= for the COVER page, put the “title” in the center; your name, the
class title, and the date should be in the lower right corner of the title
page
#7= indent all paragraphs with five spaces; use one-inch
margins around the entire paper–top, bottom, sides BUT
DO NOT JUSTIFY the right margin!!
#8= number your pages; the Cover page does not count; the first page does
not need a number; start with “2” on your page 2.
#9= proof read carefully: check for subject-verb agreement;
shift in tenses; misspelled words (use spell-check on your
computers) === take your early draft to the Writing Lab for
a preliminary evaluation: they will not rewrite it for you,
but they can point out errors/explain them to you/ and then
tutor you, if needed!! (for free!)
#10= if the paper is “under” or “over” the assigned number
of pages I gave you, it automatically drops one point
#11= —do not use first person in the FILM/SUMMARY PAPER (I, we, our, us,
my, mine, etc.) but write in third person (one, it, she, he, they, or use
the regular noun: person, place, thing). Use first person only in
critiques
#12= [FOR RESEARCH PAPERS ONLY!!! NOT FOR FILM/SUMMARY PAPER-CRITIQUES,
REACTION PAPERS]:—If you are discussing more than one source, then put
the author’s last name and the page number used at the end of each
paragraph to prevent plagiarism. For example: (Mack, p.45)
